So Long Indie 103.1 FM…

A  local radio station playing punk, indie, alternative, electronic rock, etc. is calling it quits.

Let me be the first to say that L.A. Radio sucks shite, and thank Indie for trying to do something different and real and fresh. Unfortunately that sort of thing never lasts for very long in Southern California.

It’s a station that counted amongst it’s hosts Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, Henry Rollins of Black Flag-Rollins Band-and solo success,  Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction and solo efforts, and Joe Escalante of the Vandals. Sad to see it go…

The good news is that Indie is sticking around as an internet only station and can be found at www.indie1031.com. So far the only confirmed name above that will stay on is Henry Rollins (you gotta love Rollins, he’s not turning down an open-mic, regardless of where it goes), but many of the other hosts are staying on board to bring you the music they (and we) love.

If this is the kind of music you love, support them, before we all get Britney’d, Beyonce’d, and P-Diddied to death.

  1. I’m glad it’s not the END, and that Indie will live on through the Internet. Jonesy’s Jukebox was my favorite! I could listen to him banter on with any guest and it would be nothing but charming…and most of the time, enlightening too. And his music selection never failed me. No more driving home late at night with Indie on, hearing something amazing that makes me feel like a human being again. No more Head Trip with Christian B. on Sunday mornings soothing my rage over having to work on a Sunday as I’m driving to work. No more full versions of songs. They never feared to play the 9 minutes of instrumental stuff in a Cure song before you get to the vocals. Such a surprise was Indie, when it appeared on the radio. May it live free on the internet.
